ABOUT AMBITION

Ambition School of Dance was founded by the school's Principal, Nadine Dessent. What started off as one small class with three children has fast-grown into a successful dance school with over 20 classes running on a weekly basis. In 2011 her dream of opening her own school became a reality and Ambition School of Dance was born.

We are a full-time dance school with excellent facilities in a brand new, air conditioned studio. An IDTA school offering classes in ballet, tap, modern, lyrical, acro, musical theatre, commercial for kids aged 18 months up to adult. Exams are offered up to 3 times a year and theatre productions are held bi-annually. We have a competition team who train weekly and attend festivals and competitions throughout the year and a classical ballet programme for dancers who show potential in this area. We also run workshops in the holidays and parties at weekends.

THE ROLE

The role would suit an ex-performer or experienced dance teacher with a specific interest in ballet looking for regular teaching hours. You must be friendly and nurturing with excellent knowledge and attention to detail. This role is not suitable for a performer who is still actively seeking performing contracts.

 

  • 20 hours teaching plus overtime during term times

  • Teaching of ballet, tap and modern

  • Job sharing considered

  • Regular overtime available (private lessons, parties, shows, exams)

  • Workshop opportunities in school holidays

  • Salary negotiable and PAYE considered

SKILLS REQUIRED

Partial applications will be considered if all of the required skills are not held

  • Classical ballet training (trained at a ballet college such as Royal Ballet, English National Ballet advantageous)

  • Experience and confidence in teaching pointe work

  • Experience teaching syllabus work and preparing children for examinations

  • IDTA knowledge and training is an advantage but IDTA teacher training can be offered for the right candidate

  • Festival and competition experience

  • Confident creating festival choreography in all styles

  • Experience in teaching modern, tap, lyrical, contemporary, acro and commercial advantageous
