AGED 11 YEARS AND OVER
Our Dance Classes are held in Epsom from Monday to Saturday. Classes are progressive and students move through the grades following the IDTA syllabus as they grow more experienced.
Aged 11 and over OR working at Grade 3 and above, children move into our Gold and Platinum classes and follow the IDTA syllabus for Ballet, Tap, Modern and Disco. These classes are taught separately but conveniently held one after another to make it easy for students to study more than one dance style. These class combinations are also charged as a package so you pay for the time spent in class rather than by style.
We welcome students at any age and ability and all new students will be invited to a FREE TRIAL to enable us to assess the class level that they should join.
LYRICAL DANCE
AGED 11 YEARS AND OVER
Lyrical dance is a hugely popular dance style and we are delighted to bring it to our timetable for September 2020. Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance that often uses music with lyrics to inspire the movements of the dancer. We also incorporate contemporary moves and acro tricks for even more exciting classes and outstanding performances.
COMMERCIAL
AGED 11 YEARS AND OVER
Commercial dance emerged in the 1950s as a way for dancers to push against the strict constraints of traditional styles such as ballet and be free to experiment. Dancing to modern music, commercial dance incorporates moves from all genres including jazz, ballet, hip hop, breakdance, popping, krumping and street dance.
Mixing different styles of dance makes commercial dance versatile and appealing to a wide audience, giving it a unique purpose to be used in music videos, films and even adverts to promote products. With commercial dance becoming ever the more popular, it is constantly evolving and broadening to include new popular moves.
Our classes are suitable for older dancers aged 11 years and over and are upbeat and most importantly fun!
SENIOR MUSICAL
THEATRE
AGED 11 YEARS AND OVER
Senior Musical Theatre Classes follow the IDTA syllabus. These classes include fun and varied performance-based show dancing with singing and dancing. Created to develop the versatile show dancer and full to the brim with varied styles, including; Musical Theatre, Pantomime, Cabaret and Commercial Dance.
Essential elements include kicks, turns, vocals and rhythmic awareness – are all explored, whilst props and accessories are used to assist the styles. A varied range of musical pieces add to the excitement and atmosphere of this unique performance-based dance class.
The perfect class to complement any study in dance, drama or music or for any students wishing to move into a Musical Theatre career.
STRETCH & LIMBER
(online class)
Stretching is so important for dancers; it's how they achieve advanced moves and make their routines more aesthetically pleasing. Our stretch class is designed to help dancers achieve their splits, y-stands, needles and scorpions. A short half an hour class which is delivered online, this class perfectly complements our full timetable of dance classes.
SINGING CLASSES
An affordable way for students to experience professional singing lessons both privately and in small groups. Classes are available in person or via Zoom and priced from just £20.
SPECIALIST CLASSES

BY INVITATION ONLY
ADC - The Ambition Dance Company are a group of Ambition students who have been chosen to represent Ambition at events and in competitions and festivals. We meet twice a month to rehearse and auditions are held for new members every 6 months. Many of our ADC members have successfully auditioned for pantomimes and theatre performances and regularly place in local competitions and festivals.
CAT - Classical Audition Technique Class is a group of Ambition students who show excellent potential in ballet are handpicked for the class. The CAT dancers meet and train once a week in preparation for Ballet Associate programme auditions. The programme is run by Miss Charlotte who was a junior ballet associate in the Northern Ballet Company and then went on to train at the English National Ballet School in London. Ambition students have successfully auditioned for associate programmes such as Ballet Boost and The London Ballet Company.
ADULT BALLET AND TAP
Here at Ambition we offer classes to adults too and some older students may be of adult standard! Whether you’re in it to get fit, learn a new skill or make new friends, you will be sure to have fun at one of our adult classes.
Our classes follow the IDTA syllabus and optional adult IDTA examinations are available for those that wish to track their progress!
